IRCIL’s roots are advocacy. Over 22 years ago, we were created by a dedicated group of advocates, people with disabilities and their allies, to bring about a systems wide change in our community. Advocacy for individuals and communities continues to be one of our cores services – it is an important part of who we are. IRCIL seeks opportunities to make changes in our community that affect the greatest number of people with disabilities who live in our community.We know that there is power in numbers, so we often need the support of others to meet our goals. There has been progress toward the inclusion of people with disabilities over the past several decades, but we still have work to do. People with disabilities continue to have problems with accessing housing, transportation, employment, and health care.
